Jakarta: Music Television (MTV) asal Amerika Serikat kembali menggelar ajang penghargaan kepada insan musisi dan pekerja seni. Perhelatan setara Grammy Awards, terkhusus pada kategori video ini telah mengumumkan daftar nomine MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) melalui Twitter.
Nama The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, dan Taylor Swift tampak di beberapa kategori nominasi. Duet terbaru Lady Gaga dan Ariana Grande pun mencuri beberapa posisi.
Lana Del Rey dengan West Coast sempat masuk daftar nominasi MTV VMA 2014 kategori Best Cinematography. Tahun ini, Lana Del Rey kembali masuk MTV VMA, masuk dalam kategori Best Alternative dengan Doin’ Time.
Tahun ini, MTV VMA kembali menghadirkan kategori Best K-Pop dan Video for Good untuk kali kedua. BTS kembali masuk sebagai nomine, menemani nomine lain yakni TXT, EXO, Red Velvet, (G)I-IDLE, dan Monsta X.
Khusus di masa pandemi sekaran, MTV VMA menghadirkan kategori Best Music Video from Home dan Best Quarantine Performance.
MTV VMA 2020 memberi kesempatan penggemar memilih para idola di 15 kategori melalui situs resmi MTV mulai 23 Agustus dalam sepekan. MTV VMA 2020 berlangsung pada 30 Agustus 2020 pukul 8 malam waktu setempat.
