Billboard Music Awards 2022 kembali hadir di Las Vegas dengan menjanjikan malam bertabur bintang untuk memberikan apresiasi pada artis-artis musik ternama dunia.
Sebelum upacara penghargaan ini disiarkan secara langsung di NBC, Billboard telah mengumumkan banyak pemenang, termasuk Drake yang berhasil membawa pulang lima penghargaan. Drake sukse membawa pulang piala untuk kategori Top Artist, Male Artist, Rap Artist, Rap Male Artist, dan Rap Album.
Dari daftar nominasi yang dirilis sebelumnya, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, dan Kanye West berhasil memimpin perolehan nominasi.
Tahun ini, dari 62 kategori yang diperebutkan, The Weeknd memperoleh 17 nominasi termasuk untuk kategori utama yaitu Top Artist, Top Male Artist, dan Top Hot 100 Artist.
Tahun ini, Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) menambahkan lima kategori baru yaitu Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S) Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Song, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S) Song, dan Top Viral Song.
